Whole Wheat Banana Raisin Bread

What, oh what is a food blogger to do when bananas go brown? Well, banana bread of course! This Whole Wheat Banana Raisin Bread is moist, dense and delicious. It's the perfect companion to your morning cup of joe.

Whole Wheat Banana Raisin Bread

- 4 over-ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

- Thoroughly combine ingredients in a large bowl with an electric mixer.
- Pour batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees for 65 to 75 minutes.
- Allow to cool for approximately 30 minutes, then enjoy!
