How to Roast a Plantain

It only took my Venezuelan brother-in-law, like thirteen years (okay, maybe not quite *that* many) to teach me the easy way to cook a plantain.  These plantains are so unbelievably delicious, it's almost impossible to believe that all you did was pop it in an oven, skin and all!  He says I should try them with cheese, but I'm kind of addicted to a hefty sprinkle of salt.  Yum.

Easy Roasted Plantain Ingredients:

  • Plantains
  • Sea salt

Easy Roasted Plantain Directions:

  1. Choose a plantain that is very (very very) ripe.  Like, more black than yellow.  Place unpeeled plantain on a sheet of foil.
  2. Roast at 375 degrees for about 25 to 35 minutes, until plantain has burst from the peel.
  3. Remove remainder of peel, slice, and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Enjoy!
