Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds in Walt Disney World

I recently had the good fortune of being invited as a tag-along with my friend Jessica to a media event at Walt Disney World's Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds promoting the show's 40th anniversary!  I was not asked to write about my experience (I was honestly just a guest!), but it's about a dinner show, so how could I resist?

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is an all you can eat musical dinner show that takes place in an old barn setting.  It has a wild west/cabaret feel and the show is intertwined throughout the full meal service.  As soon as I walked into the "barn" I realized I had enjoyed this show as a child and was even more excited to see how it translates for adults.  Considering it's been around for forty years, I suspected quite well - and was not disappointed.

The two hour long show is catchy, engaging and had both timeless material as well as current quips.  The actors came into the audience on several occasions and made sure everyone felt like a part of the action.

But, what about the food, April?!
Okay, I know!  The food!

Holy yum, Mickey. #hoopdeedoo #waltdisneyworld
Aaaaand, done. #waltdisneyworld #hoopdeedoo

The Hoop-Dee-Doo is an all you can eat meal.  I pictured buffet style, but instead meal service is brought to your table in large metal buckets and is refreshed as needed.  The meal includes salad with an Italian style dressing (very reminiscent of the Olive Garden), corn bread and sweet butter (that was amazing and I ate WAY too much of), fried chicken (also, incredible), ribs (meh, I like my ribs better), corn (can't really mess up corn), macaroni and cheese (didn't try it, but Jessica said it was yummy), beans (great flavor and interestingly made with pulled pork rather than chunks or bacon), and mashed potatoes (excellent).

Drinks (with unlimited refills) are included in your meal and are a choice of wine, beer, punch, coffee or soda.  For a premium there are a few other drink options, including a margarita.  (The margarita is amazing.)  For dessert they serve strawberry shortcake, which I absolutely adored, but my kids would have been sorely disappointed with.  We were told that they do make accommodations for dietary needs, but you have to contact them in advance.
