We hosted Thanksgiving a few weeks ago and, on my own advice, I asked the guests to each contribute a dish. Stacy, of The Best Roast Broccoli EVER, said she was bringing her grandmother's dip from childhood. Thankfully it wasn't actually her grandmother's old dip (ew), but a dip made from her grandmother's recipe. When I asked for the ingredients she replied, "ummm, cream cheese, and milk, and I think I put onion powder or garlic salt in it."
The dip was incredible. First thing to disappear (and this is saying a lot, because we also had a pile of Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts going). So, of course I set out to make my own version. Not quite the same, but just as delicious! It's definitely going into the regular holiday recipe rotation!
Garlic Herb Cream Cheese Dip, Ingredients:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 small garlic clove, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- optional garnish: chives, minced
Garlic Herb Cream Cheese Dip, Directions:
- Mix everything together except the garnish (you can do it by hand, but I used my immersion blender to make it speedier).
- Garnish, and serve with your favorite crackers!
I made my 8 year old run to Target with me for dip ingredients and Town House Crackers to serve it with. We chose the Pita crackers, but I think the Original, Pretzel, or Flipsides would've been great too. I may have tricked my son into thinking we were doing something super awesome rather than grocery shopping. But in my defense, I think Target is super awesome. And anyway, I surprised him by picking up a couple friends and a hand-me-down foosball table on the way home. So I'm not the *worst* mom ever.
We dipped with the Town House Pita Oven Baked Crackers, is that what you would choose? Or would you grab another variety of Town House Crackers?
