We do quite a bit of grilling around here, and while sometimes we get fancy with flank steaks or cider ribs, usually we're hot dog and corn people. I always have a giant pack of hot dogs and a big bag of corn cobs in the freezer - and they just taste so good and so SUMMER when fresh off the grill. What is it about charcoal that screams pool parties, Fourth of July, and freshly mowed grass. I don't know, but I bet if we could bottle it, I wouldn't be the only one clamoring for some.
As I was saying. Our usual fare is grilled hot dogs and corn with a side of macaroni and cheese. But when I was standing over flaming charcoal in the Florida heat this afternoon, I had a vision. A cheesy, hot doggy, barbecuey vision. Why not pile all these wonderful things together into a Barbecue Mac and Cheese Dog?! So, I did. And it was met with uproarious applause! Or, wide eyes and toothy grins, anyway.
