Do you remember to take a time-out for yourself every day? Make sure you’re getting “me moments” and relaxing!
Raise your hand if you are constantly doing for others. If it’s been too long since you had a quiet sit to reflect our thoughts. If going grocery shopping alone feels like a vacation lately.
Yeh, me too.
Thanks to Oui by Yoplait for partnering with us to talk about taking care of ourselves; all expressed opinions are my own.
So, today I’m going to be more present, aware, and conscious of how I treat myself. And I’m going to be kind. To everyone! But mostly to me. Below are five ways I like to grab a “me moment” in the middle of a crazy day or week.
Make sure to tell me in the comments section what your favorite “me moments” are!
I know, this sounds silly – but those adult coloring books (I know, weird name for it), are so great. The mandalas and cityscapes are my personal favorites, but I’ve seen some beautiful quote books as well and even some funny curse word books!
Heck, in a pinch I’d even use my daughter’s princess coloring pages. I don’t know what it is about the act of coloring that is so nice, but it really is like taking a meditation moment. It’s even better if you use really good pencils. The ones that just glide on the page and leave a vibrant trail of color behind? Swoon.
2. READING A BOOK
Getting tangled up in a book is one of my favorite things to do ever. Evvvverrrrr. Even better than just reading a book? Hiding away in my hammock with a book. You guys, pure love for that situation. Pure unadulterated love.
I go through spates of genres and right now I’m digging the historical romance thing. Oh, Jamie and Claire. I do love you. Another fave is young adult dystopian fiction. Give me a whole brave new world to get lost in. Yes, please.
3. WATCH A SHOW
Almost as good as reading a book, is melting into the couch to marathon one of my favorite shows. If it’s quirky and sci fi, it’s definitely on my list. Bazinga my friends, live long and prosper. And please passa big blanked along with the remote my way.
I prefer to do this late at night rather than sneaking away during the day because I tend to doze off on the couch and then slink to my bedroom after a bit. Pretty sure if that happened in the afternoon I’d end up with a juice box on my head and a four year old on my bladder.
4. WRITE A LETTER
Text messages and email are fine, but there’s something about sitting down and hand writing a letter to a friend that just can’t be beat. It gives you the feels because you’re going to write and tell her that she’s beautiful and you can recount all the lovely things going on in your life, and you know it’s going to give her the feels when she receives it.
This one’s great, because it pays dividends. Heck, it may even get you a letter back!
5. HAVE A SNACK
Remember that hammock I told you about? Grab your book and a tasty treat that you won’t have to share and whisk yourself away to that shady bit of paradise. Bonus points if it’s a single serving treat that you’ll actually be able to enjoy the whole thing!
Lately I’m loving the new Oui French style yogurt by Yoplait. I picked some up in the dairy section of Walmart and have been hiding it from the kids, so it can be my little secret. Shhhhh…
Oui by Yoplait is made with whole milk, contains no artificial colors or flavors, and features real fruit on the bottom. It has a unique, thick and creamy texture. Oui by Yoplait intended to be enjoyed slowly. Perfect for snacking in a hammock.
