Preparation
What kind of oats for overnight oats?
We find that rolled oats work best in this recipe. Rolled oats, quick oats, and steel cut oats are not the same and will have different textures in the finished product.
Can you make overnight oats ahead of time?
Yes, in fact you’re supposed to with this recipe! You can make them as little as one night ahead or as many as five.
What add-ins are good for overnight oats?
I like to stir in fresh, dried, or canned fruit like diced peaches, strawberries, cranberries, or blueberries for added texture and sweetness.
Chocolate chips or peanut butter are delicious for a more dessert-like vibe. And a spoonful of granola or nuts adds a delicious crunch!
Storage and leftovers
How long do overnight oats last?
These will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For best results store in individual air tight containers and stir before eating.
Can you freeze overnight oats?
We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
