or other thick sliced bread like Brioche or Challah

real vanilla extract

Instructions
In a shallow bowl or dish, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg.
Allow the waffle maker to heat completely.
Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
Place the bread into the center of the waffle maker and close the lid.
Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
Remove carefully and repeat with remaining bread slices.
Serve warm with butter, syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit if desired.
