The folks from Lunchbox asked me to dazzle you with an amazing sandwich. I did them one better and have brought you The PERFECT Steak Sandwich. Mama Loves Food has been compensated for the associated time and work but I can assure you, all opinions and recipes are mine alone.
I've been perfecting this sandwich nearly my entire life. Go ahead and chuckle, but I'm not kidding. This sandwich is a work of art. As a kid my mom didn't do a ton of cooking, but once a week (usually Fridays) she made steak. So Saturday mornings were dedicated to leftover steak sandwiches. Hmmm, maybe these should be really be called Saturday Morning Steak Sandwiches? Then again, they're good for any time. Perfect for any time. So, we'll stick with The Perfect Steak Sandwich.
Anyway, my best friend slept over nearly every weekend, and in the morning we'd get up and make the messiest, sloppiest, most delicious white bread and mayo steak sandwiches. Just piles of sliced steak on white bread with disgusting amounts of mayo, and then microwaved. So. Good.
But these days, since it's a rare treat to indulge in bread, I make it really count. And this sandwich? Counts. Oh boy, does it. Years of Saturday morning research have gone into perfecting this beauty. Don't get me wrong, I still love a simple white bread and mayo sammy, but this guy is something special.
Try it. I think you'll agree.
