Volcano Bay water theme park at Universal Orlando is the perfect place to cool off on your next visit to Florida!
Love this? Pin it to your TRAVEL BOARD for later!
Volcano Bay is Universal Orlando’s newest attraction. It’s a fully immersive Pacific Island themed water park. And it’s pretty amazing. I had the recent pleasure of attending the press opening and WOW, you guys. All I can say is WOW.
Water is Life. Life is Joy. That’s the philosophy celebrated at Universal’s Volcano Bay™ water theme park. It’s the carefree attitude the fabled Waturi islanders have embraced on their Pacific isle for centuries. Now you can live the Waturi way at this all-new park where thrills and relaxation flow in perfect harmony.
I’ve put together a few reasons why I think YOU should visit Volcano Bay on your next trip to Orlando!

IT’S IMMERSIVE
Universal went all out with the theming of Volcano Bay – it’s not your run of the mill water park, this is a full fledged theme park in line with what you’ve come to expect from all things Universal. Think Diagonalley and Hogmeade’s, but Pacific Islander. And bigger. With water. It’s pretty incredible.
You’ll see Krakatau the volcano (the highest peak in Florida! No, seriously!), winding rivers that go through starry caves, thatch roof cabana huts, a massive sand beach, Pacific Island inspired shopping, snacks, and of course music.
WAITING IN LINE ISN’T A THING
With the opening of Volcano Bay, Universal rolled out a whole new way to experience ride lines with their new TapuTapu wearable queue. Choose the ride you want to try with your TapuTapu, then explore the park. Hit the lazy river, or grab some lunch. When it’s your turn to ride, the TapuTapu will alert you to head to the ride! It won’t magically make the crowds disappear, but it will give you the freedom to spend your time doing other fun things while you “wait” for your turn on the slides! And not only that, but you can use your TapuTapu to pay for food, souvenirs, lockers, and more. No more worrying about that wet wad of cash in your drawers!
THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
This place is massive. Mass. Ive. Our live tour (see below!) took over an hour to make one circle around the park. With 18 incredible attractions, you won’t want for things to do. There are gorgeous cabanas for lounging, multiple small kid-friendly areas, restaurants, bars, two rivers (one lazy and one not-so-lazy), and a huge sand beach leading into the massive wave pool.
THE FOOD
Okay, I totes saved the best for last. I know, I know, you’re thinking wait. The best part about a water park is the food? Well, um. If you’re a foodie it is! Haha. You guys, this is not the theme park food of your childhood. This is legitimate, delicious (deeeeelicious) island inspired fare. We sampled most of the menu during our visit, and I cannot wait to go back and try the rest.
