About thirty minutes before our friends came over for dinner tonight, I realized I forgot to plan a dessert. Some quick rummaging through the freezer and pantry and voila! A Waffle Iron Strawberry Shortcake was in the works. This was delicious and a huge hit. Also, super easy to make!
Waffle Iron Strawberry Shortcake
Ingredients
- Yellow cake batter prepared (I used a box mix)
- Cool whip
- Strawberries quartered (I used frozen)
Instructions
- Make five cake waffles with the cake batter. I found mine cooked perfectly in just over three minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
- Build your shortcake with a waffle cake, then a layer of cool whip, then a layer of strawberries. Repeat until you are out of waffle cakes. Garnish with one more dollop of cool whip and a couple extra strawberries.
- Enjoy!

What a great & yummy idea! I had no clue you could use cake mix. Very cool.
Yes, please!! I wish I had some fresh strawberries at home right now. 🙂
Ok! Seriously delish!! I can't wait to try this… but I guess I'll have to get a waffle iron first! 🙂
Holy moly! These look amazing!
