How to Make Date Paste.

Date Paste is the ultimate natural sweetener.  (In my opinion, of course!)  Date paste is simple to make and can be used to sweeten everything from cookies, to ice cream, to breads, cakes, brownies, smoothies... you name it!  (It's the sweetening agent in my Pumpkin Butter!)  Heck, you can even just spread it on a piece of toast.  Because it's so, so, so yummy.

Why would you want to use date paste instead of sugar, honey, or maple syrup?  Well it's super sweet, but also chock full of vitamins, minerals, and fiber.  Date paste is just plain better for your body.

Date Paste, Ingredients:

  • Dried dates (I just use the inexpensive kind that my market shelves near the raisins)

Date Paste, Directions:

  1. Place dates in a container and cover with filtered water.  Put lid on container and leave in the refrigerator overnight.
  2. Drain water from dates (you can save this water and add it to smoothies if you'd like!), and place in a food processor (I used my mini processor - it was the perfect size for a 10 ounce container of dried dates) and pulse until a smooth paste is made.
  3. Enjoy!
