Soda Bottle Nightlight TutorialI love having guests over.  Not only does it motivate me to clean my house (hah!), but as a work from home, homeschooling mom, I crave adult interaction. Probably more than the average Jane.  Or maybe I’m just quirky because come to think of it, I loved having guests even when I worked in an office and didn’t have kids.  So, yeh.  I love company. Now that we’ve spent an entire paragraph establishing that, let’s move on.

Something I like to do for guests is to have a few special things on hand.  For overnighters, we keep a single cup coffee brewer, water, and snacks in the guest bedroom so they can decompress without being swarmed by small children.  For day trippers, I like to keep some fancy drinks around.  Like flavored coffee, the good juice, and glass bottle sodas!

So, when I saw these Diet Coke “It’s Mine” glass bottles at Albertsons I just had to grab a couple! Coca-Cola has created a new, uniquely packaged bottle to showcase its Diet Coke. No two glass bottles are the same!  The bottles are so pretty and unique, that I couldn’t bring myself to toss them in the recycle bin.  Instead I made a nightlight!

I love the way it turned out and the fact that it was ridiculously easy to do!  The bright colors on the bottle light up like stained glass windows and add a beautiful pop of color to any room.  It’s perfect on a bedside table or for keeping a small light on in the bathroom at night.

  2. This looks minor now but after the etching compound is put on it will travel up that fold and etch the glass in unwanted ways.
