Slow Cooker Apple and Onion Pulled Pork is the perfect set it and forget it recipe! Only 10 minute of prep for a delicious home cooked dinner.
We are certified pulled pork lovers in my house. For realsies. My kids can make a pork butt disappear faster than you can ask why on earth they would name something pork butt.
My favorite way to prepare pulled pork is in the crock pot because it takes almost no effort whatsoever. It also makes my house smell incredible.

This Slow Cooker Apple and Onion Pulled Pork was inspired by my mom serving applesauce whenever we had pork chops growing up. And she had it right – the flavors of apples, pork, and sweet onion are just really spot on.
Any type of apple works fine in this recipe. We chose red delicious this time because they were on sale, but I have also used Granny Smith, Jonathan, and Fuji. Choose what you like or what’s reasonably priced!
I generally use pork butt, or Boston butt roast for this recipe, but you could also use a pork picnic, shoulder roast, or even a pork loin if you wanted it to be less fatty, just understand that the meat will be a little drier if you use a loin. Which, hey! Some people might prefer and that’s cool too.

The apples and onions cook down so much that you don’t really have to worry about how big or small they’re cut. My general rule of thumb is bite size or smaller, so people aren’t picking out giant pieces. My kids also aren’t crazy about the texture of the apple if it’s too large.
We generally make enough to fill our slow cooker allllll the way to the top (and occasionally when I get a great deal on pork, I’ll use my giant turkey roaster to slow cook as much as 20 pounds of pork at once!).
Shredded pork freezes beautifully, and it’s delicious on its own or added to many different recipes, so we love having servings available in the freezer for busy nights when I can’t (or don’t want to) cook!
When done, the pork should shred easily with forks (or meat claws if you want to get fancy). If the meat is tough to shred, that just means it needs a little more time cooking. Put the lid back on and set the timer to check again in 30 minutes.
You’d have to try really hard to overcook this dish so don’t worry if you can’t get back to check it right away.

Super easy! I love how hands off this recipe is. Place the pork, apples, onions and seasonings in the crock pot and just let it cook…perfect for families on the go!
That’s a very creative pulled pork! I always do the more traditional kind with a bbq sauce. Hubby avoids red sauces as often as possible so I bet he would really enjoy your recipe.
So many great flavors and very easy to make!
The flavor of this pork is outstanding! Love how easy it is to make!
