Instant Pot Quinoa Ingredients
- Quinoa – We used white quinoa.
- Broth – Vegetable broth or any other flavor of broth.
- Salt – Kosher or sea salt.
How do you make quinoa in the instant pot? (step-by-step directions)
⭐ First, combine all the ingredients in the instant pot and secure the lid.
⭐ Next, set the instant pot to manual/high pressure and set the cook time to 1 minute.
⭐ Then, after the pot comes to pressure and cooks for 1 minute, let the pressure naturally release.
⭐ Finally, turn the pressure dial to release the remaining pressure and remove quinoa from the instant pot. Fluff with a fork and enjoy!

What type of quinoa to use for instant pot quinoa?
This recipe works with any type of quinoa. We used white quinoa but any variety will work with this recipe. Just make sure not to use a quinoa rice mixture.
What type of broth is best?
We used vegetable broth but you can use chicken broth or beef broth. You can also use water in place of broth.
How do I set my instant pot for this recipe?
The beauty about this recipe is you can just dump everything in and let the instant pot do the work! Set your pot on manual/high pressure and set the pressure valve to the sealing position. Set the instant pot for 1 minute and press start.
While the instant pot comes to pressure, the quinoa is cooking! That’s why we don’t need much time set on the timer. Once the timer goes off, allow the instant pot to naturally release for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, make sure to turn the pressure release valve to quick release to remove any remaining pressure. Then remove the lid, fluff with a fork and enjoy!
Storage and leftovers
How long does instant pot quinoa last?
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave.
Can you freeze instant pot quinoa?
Yes, cool the quinoa and place in an airtight, freezer safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and reheat as desired.

How to Make Instant Pot Quinoa
Instant Pot Quinoa
Ingredients
- 1½ cups quinoa (we used white quinoa)
- 18 ounces broth (we used vegetable broth)
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients in your instant pot insert and put the lid in place.
- Set your pot to manual/high pressure and put the cook time at 1 minute. The pot will take about 5-10 minutes to pressurize before that 1 minute starts counting down.
- When the time finishes, allow a 15 minute natural release before removing the lid. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Cook time - Most electric pressure cookers take about 10 - 15 minutes to come to pressure. The inputted cook time will begin after the pot is pressurized.
- Natural pressure release - Hit cancel and walk away from the pot. It will slowly naturally depressurize. Depending on the contents this can take anywhere between 10 - 20 minutes for a full natural release.
- Quick release - Turn the dial at the top of your pot to allow the pressure to release quickly. Always use a long handled utensil for this to avoid steam burns.
- Do not quick release under cabinets or you may cause steam/water damage. If there is sputtering, quickly turn dial back to 'sealing' and allow it to naturally depressurize a few minutes before trying again.
- If using an instant pot that is larger than 6 quarts, double the amount of liquid.
