This Two Ingredient Chocolate Ganache is so easy, so delicious, made in the microwave, and goes fabulously on my Double Chocolate Mocha Cupcakes!
Confession time! I didn’t even know what ganache was until a few months ago when I noticed my cousin (okay, technically hubby’s cousin – but we’re married, so I’m claiming him too) goes by the handle OhMyGanache on social media. Fun name right? I was intrigued, so I looked it up and turns out ganache is the name for that really delicious glossy chocolate frosting you see dripped over decadent cakes and desserts. Yummy.
I didn’t give it much thought beyond that because I assumed it was a difficult thing to make – I mean, he’s the pastry chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia, so there’s no way it’s something I could do. Until I made my some really delicious Double Chocolate Mocha Brownies and needed a good frosting. I kept thinking how nice they they would look dipped in some shiny deep chocolate ganache. Mmmmm.
So, I took to the internet and found ganache recipes. Most of which involved double boilers and things I don’t have in my kitchen or want to learn how to do. But most used semi sweet chocolate, which I happen to know you can get in chocolate chip form. And the whole goal of the double boiler is to melt the chocolate, If there’s one thing I’ve learned making cheater fudge (which you should totally try by the way) is that you can totally use the microwave for stuff like that. So, I tried it in the microwave. And it worked! Two ingredients, four minutes in the nuker, and holy moly, delicious chocolate ganache. YAY!
Two Ingredient Chocolate Ganache, Ingredients:
- 12 ounce package semi sweet mini morsels (the mini chips melt better, than the full size)
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
Two Ingredient Chocolate Ganache, Directions:
- Pour cream into a large microwave safe bowl and microwave for 3 – 4 minutes until it starts lightly simmering. Watch closely to make sure it doesn’t scald.
- Pour in chocolate chips and whisk until smooth and fully incorporated. It will seem impossible at first, but keep stirring and it will come together!
- Use immediately to glaze, or allow it to come to room temperature (this will take several hours, so plan accordingly) and use as a more traditional frosting.
