Parmesan Garlic Chex Mix Ingredients

  • Chex cereal – We like corn Chex for this recipe.
  • Goldfish crackers – Classic cheese flavor.
  • Pretzels – Mini pretzel twists.
  • Cheez-it crackers – Classic original flavor.
  • Butter – Salted butter, melted.
  • Worcestershire sauce – Does anyone spell that right their first try?
  • Seasoned salt – We are partial to Lawry’s.
  • Garlic powder – Not garlic salt!
  • Onion powder – Not onion salt!
  • Parmesan cheese – The powdered kind found in the green plastic cylinder, usually near the spaghetti sauce.

First, in a large bowl combine the cereal, goldfish, pretzels and cheese crackers. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, garlic powder and onion powder together.

Then,  pour the seasoning mix over the cereal mixture and stir gently until evenly coated. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and stir to coat again.

Finally, allow the snack mix to cool and store in an air tight container until ready to enjoy.

Preparation

Can you make parmesan garlic chex mix ahead of time?

Absolutely! Make up to three days before your party and store in a cool dry place in a sealed, airtight container.

What else can you add to cheesy chex party mix?

Try adding your favorite nuts, rye bread chips, bagel chips, cheetos, croutons, or even different types of cereal.

Storage and leftovers

How long does parmesan chex snack mix last?

The snack mix is best if enjoyed within three days of preparing. That said, if stored in an air tight container in a cool dry place at room temperature, the chex mix will keep for up to 2 weeks.

How do you refresh stale garlic parmesan chex mix?

If the snack mix has started to go stale, you can spread it out on your baking sheet and heat it in the oven for 5 – 10 minutes at 325 degrees.

This will crisp it back up. Watch closely to make sure it doesn’t toast too much.

Tools we love

  • Bakers half sheet – It’s cool, we only have about six of these bakers half sheets because they’re good for absolutely everything.  Cookies? Yes! Steak? Yes! Cake? Oh yeh! Roasted veggies? Uhhhh huh!
  • Measuring spoons – Make sure you’re measuring properly with a good set of measuring spoons.

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex cereal corn
  • 2 cups Goldfish crackers cheese flavor or original flavor
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 2 cups Cheez-its crackers original flavor
  • 8 tablespoons butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt we prefer Lawry's
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese the kind found in the green plastic canister, usually near the spaghetti sauce

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine the cereal, goldfish, pretzels and cheese crackers. In a small bowl whisk together mix melted butter, worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, garlic powder and onion powder together.
  • Pour the butter seasoning mix over the cereal mixture and stir gently until evenly coated. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and stir to coat again.
  • Spread out the chex mix on your largest baking sheet or 2 smaller baking sheets. You want the cereal in as even a layer as you can but since we will be stirring frequently it will cook evenly.
  • Bake in a 250° F oven for 45-50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes until toasted and golden.
  • Allow the snack mix to cool on the baking sheet, then serve or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
