WooHoo! Warm weather is definitely here and that means homemade ice cream time! How about one that uses only three ingredients and requires NO CHURNING!!
My family loves homemade ice cream, but who has time for all that work? That’s why I developed a homemade strawberry ice cream recipe that is quick and easy to put together and gets it to those hot, hungry kids with a minimum of work.
I’m on a total strawberry bender right now (because, YUM), so of course we made strawberry ice cream. It’s only three ingredients and no churning or ice cream maker needed! We’ve done the ice cream in a bag trick before, and even used an ice cream maker a few times, but I have to say, this is officially my favorite ice cream making method.

This is a great way to make super customizable types of ice cream for each of the folks you’re feeding. Ice cream toppings work great as a mix-in, and you can divide the plain ice cream mixture to make as many flavor combinations as you’d like!
This Strawberry Ice Cream was developed for J.M. Smucker Company. Mama Loves Food has been compensated for the associated time and work. All opinions and recipes are mine alone. #SundaeFundae
No Churn Strawberry Ice Cream Ingredients
Heavy Whipping Cream – Whipping cream is the basis of your ice cream, so purchase a good, organic one. Who says we can’t inject a little health into a sweet treat?
Sweetened Condensed Milk -This makes a very sweet ice cream, which I like, but you could probably cut this by half and still have a very tasty result.
Strawberry Sundae Topping – Not a big fan of strawberry? Sundae toppings come in a variety of flavors which lets you create individual treats for all the people you are serving.
How Do You Make No Churn Strawberry Ice Cream
First, in a large bowl, whip the cream to stiff peaks.
Then, fold in the sweetened condensed milk
Next, fold in the strawberry topping.
Finally, pour into ice cream containers and freeze at least 6 hours.
What Does No Churn Mean
No churn means that you don’t have to use an ice cream maker to make your desert. This is much easier than churning and gives very comparable results.
Why Do You Churn Ice Cream
Churning ice cream allows for the slow formation of ice crystals while freezing. Churning the ice cream allows for smaller ice crystals to be formed.
Why Does Ice Cream Taste Grainy
Ice Cream tastes grainy if it is allowed to melt then refreeze, as the ice crystals are too large. Be sure to only take out the amount of ice cream you plan on eating, or freeze in small, serving sized containers to prevent graininess.
How Do You Prevent The Formation Of Ice Crystals In Ice Cream
If your ice cream seems to be forming ice crystals after freezing, resulting in a grainy texture, check the temperature of your freezer. It should be at 0F or lower.
Also be sure to be using air tight containers for storage. You can lay a piece of plastic over the top of the ice cream before closing the container as well, as an extra barrier. Store in the back of the freezer, not the door, where it will stay cold.
If all else fails, just eat it as fast as you can. 🙂
What Kind Of Toppings Can You Mix In To No Churn Ice Cream
Toppings to mix into your no churn ice cream are limitless. Have fun experimenting!
- fudge
- marshmallow
- butterscotch
- fruit toppings, like blueberry, apple, or pineapple
- caramel
- Chocolate Chips
- mocha (mix some espresso crystals or leftover coffee in with your chocolate)
Have a fun family project, letting everyone mix in their personal favorites to create individual treats.
How Long Does No Churn Ice Cream Last In The Freezer
Your No Churn Ice Cream should last about 2 weeks in the freezer, but I bet it won’t last that long!!
With your homemade strawberry ice cream recipe, scale up or down so that you have few leftovers. After all, this is super fast to make so you could make it a Friday night task so that you have fresh homemade strawberry ice cream all weekend!
Can I Make No Churn Ice Cream Into A Cake
You can make no churn ice cream into a cake by freezing it in a loaf pan lined with heavy duty foil (to prevent it sticking to the pan). Freeze for at least 6 hours then turn it out onto a platter. You can top with a whipped cream frosting, cookie crumbs, fudge, or whatever strikes your fancy.
Can I Make No Churn Ice Cream Truffles
You can make no churn ice cream truffles by using a semi-circle silicone mold. Start by lining the mold thinly with some melted chocolate or truffle coating of your choice and freezing for 20 minutes. Then fill the mold almost to the top with ice cream and refreeze for an hour. You can then top them with more of the chocolate and freeze for at least 5-6 hours or overnight.
Pop them out and drizzle a little melted chocolate on the top for a pretty presentation.

Electric mixer – I love love love love love (x’s 100) my stand mixer. Really and truly. But my daily work horse is this handheld electric mixer. It even comes in allll the colors. Which, yay!
Classic Kitchenaid stand mixer – Save the best for last? Or at least the most grand. I don’t know why, but a kitchen just doesn’t feel like a kitchen without one of these bad boys tucked away on the counter. My favorite things to make in ours are ginger cookies, no churn ice cream, and shredded chicken. Yup, seriously. The Kitchenaid shreds chicken like no ones business!

I don’t usually have sundae toppings on hand, but I always have strawberry jam because it’s my favorite (especially on fresh, homemade bread!). Could I substitute jam, or would that be too sweet…..or just not work? Thanks – strawberry ice cream is my favorite ice cream so I have to make this!
i think jam would be delicious!
My family would go crazy for this. Can’t wait to try this!
