Preparation
Can you make air fryer fries ahead of time?
These are best made right before you are ready to enjoy.
What kind of oil is the best?
I love olive oil for the flavor (the bolder the better in my opinion!), but you can use whatever kind of oil you love.
If you’re worried about the air fryer smoking, try an oil with a high smoke point like avocado oil, almond oil, corn oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil, peanut oil, safflower oil, sesame oil, or sunflower oil.
How do you make them crispy?
There are a few tricks to getting your air fryer French fries as crispy as possible:
- Pat your cut potato pieces dry with a clean cloth or paper towel before cooking.
- Make a single layer of sliced potatoes in your air fryer basket.
- Shake the basked at least once, about halfway through cooking.
How do you cook frozen French fries in the air fryer?
If you’d prefer to buy a package of frozen French fries, you can add them directly to the preheated air fryer and cook for an additional 4 – 6 minutes.
Storage and leftovers
How long do air fried French fries last?
These will keep for 3 – 4 days in the refrigerator, I do not suggest freezing the leftovers. Store in a sealed air-tight container for best results.
Do you have to refrigerate fries?
Leftovers should be kept in the refrigerator. Do not leave food out at room temperature in excess of 2 hours.
How to reheat French fries in the air fryer?
Preheat air fryer to 400F and cook the potatoes for 5 – 7 minutes or until heated to your liking. Remember, the potatoes are already cooked, we’re just reheating and re-crisping them at this point.
