Preparation
What is bang bang chicken sauce made of?
Bang bang sauce is a delicious sweet and spicy sauce with a hint of tang. It’s made of mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, and honey.
Bang bang chicken in the oven
To make this in the oven, like a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper and place the breaded chicken in a single layer over the sheet. They can be close, but not touching.
Bake until coating is crispy and chicken is heated to a safe internal temperature. (See full detailed directions in the printable recipe card below).
Bang bang chicken in the air fryer
To prepare using the air fryer, preheat the air fryer then place the chicken in a single layer in the basket and spray with oil. Fry until chicken is crispy on the outside and fully cooked on the inside.
You can flip halfway through for more even browning. Depending on the size of your air fryer, this may take multiple batches. (See full detailed directions in the printable recipe card below).
Pan fried bang bang chicken
To make this on the stove top, heat a layer of oil in a large skillet, then brown chicken on each side until crispy and cooked through.
Depending on the size of your air fryer, this may take multiple batches. (See full detailed directions in the printable recipe card below).
While the chicken is cooking, whisk together your sauce ingredients. Toss the cooked chicken in some of the sauce.
Leftovers and storage
How long does leftover bang bang chicken last?
This will keep in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to four days, or longer if frozen. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to re-crisp.
Can you freeze bang bang chicken?
Yes. You’ll want to freeze before tossing in the sauce (sauce can be frozen separately). Allow chicken to cool to room temperature, then place on a baking sheet in a single layer. Place entire baking sheet in the freezer and allow chicken to freeze completely (about 3 hours).
Transfer chicken from baking sheet to a freezer bag or other freezer safe storage.
What is the best way to eat leftover bang bang chicken?
Leftovers are great on their own or used to top a salad, in a wrap, or tossed into a batch of chicken fried rice!
Drizzle more sauce over top for presentation, then serve remaining sauce as a dip.
Tips, tricks, and frequently asked questions
