Apple Bundt Cake Ingredients
- Vanilla cake mix – Any brand of vanilla box cake mix will work, our market has them buy one get one free periodically so we like to stock up.
- Eggs – Add one more egg than the mix directions call for. This will make the cake more rich like a bakery cake.
- Butter – Swap the oil called for in the cake mix recipe for an equal amount of melted (not hot) butter.
- Milk – Swap the water called for in the cake mix recipe for an equal amount of milk. I prefer to use whole milk for ultimate moisture and flavor.
- Ground cinnamon – I love this recipe with just cinnamon, but if you want to mix things up a little you could swap out the cinnamon for an equal amount of our pumpkin spice mix.
- Apples – Peeled & finely diced
- Optional – Butterscotch ganache for glazing.
How do you make an apple bundt cake?
⭐ First, peel apples and dice into small pieces.
⭐Next, in a large bowl, use an electric mixer to whisk together eggs, butter, milk, and cinnamon.
⭐Then, gently stir in apples and pour batter into a greased bundt pan.
⭐Finally, bake until cooked through and, if desired, glaze with butterscotch ganache.
What is the best apple to use in cake?
Gala apple or fuji apples will give you a sweeter cake, while granny smith apples or honey crisp will yield a more tart result. In the pictured recipe we used gala apples, but I typically use whatever we have on hand, sometimes combination!
Does it take longer to bake in a bundt pan?
Bundt pan cake typically take a little but longer than a classic flat cake to cook due to the depth of the pan. This bundt apple cake recipe cooks in about 40 minutes.
How do you freeze apple bundt cake?
Allow the cake to cool completely, then wrap it securely in in plastic wrap before freezing. The cake will last several months in the freezer. To thaw, allow it to sit at room temperature for a few hours, or for slower thawing move it to your refrigerator.
We suggest freezing before the glaze or ganache is applied.
How do you keep a bundt cake from sticking?
Make sure to use a good cake release made with flour and oil. You can easily make homemade pan release, or purchase one at the store specifically meant for baking (it will say on the label that it includes flour).

How to Make Apple Bundt Cake
Apple Bundt Cake
Ingredients
- Vanilla cake mix not prepared
- Eggs one more than called for in the mix directions
- Whole milk equal to the amount of water called for in the cake directions
- Melted butter (not hot) equal to the amount of oil called for in the cake directions
- 2 large apples
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Optional butterscotch ganache
Instructions
- Peel and dice apples, set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine vanilla cake mix, eggs, milk, butter, and cinnamon. Beat with an electric mixer for 1 - 2 minutes, until fully incorporated.
- Gently fold in diced apples.
- Pour batter into a greased bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Allow to cool and then, if desired, top with butterscotch ganache.
