Strawberry Sweet Tea is one of my very favorite drinks. There’s something about a big pitcher of sweet tea that feels like home, but add strawberries? Game over. This strawberry sweet tea recipe is bright, fruity, perfectly sweet, and ridiculously refreshing basically summer in a glass.

It’s the kind of drink you make once and suddenly everyone expects it at every gathering. Backyard BBQ? Bring the tea. Pool day? Bring the tea. Random Tuesday because it’s hot? Yep, still making the tea.

And the best part? It’s super simple. No fancy equipment, no complicated steps, just steep, stir, pour, and sip.

Why You’ll Love This

This isn’t just regular sweet tea with a splash of flavor. It’s balanced, smooth, and actually tastes like strawberries, not artificial syrupy overload.

  • Perfectly sweet (but easy to adjust)
  • Fresh strawberry flavor without being overpowering
  • Great for parties or make-ahead drinks
  • Tastes just as good (if not better) the next day

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • ice (optional)
  • cold water
  • boiling water
  • strawberry simple syrup
  • granulated sugar
  • black tea bags
  • fresh strawberry slices (optional, for garnish)

Step By Step Directions

Start by pouring your boiling water into a medium mixing bowl and adding the sugar. Stir until it’s completely dissolved, this is key for a smooth, non-grainy tea.

Add the tea bags (strings removed) directly into the hot water and let them steep for about 5 minutes. Not longer. Trust me on this, over-steeping = bitter tea, and we’re not doing that today.

Once the time is up, gently squeeze the tea bags to get all that flavor out, then discard them.

Stir in the strawberry simple syrup until everything is well combined. You’ll already start to see that gorgeous color coming together.

In a pitcher, add the cold water, then pour in your tea mixture. Give it a good stir.

From here, you can either chill it in the fridge or pour it over ice right away. Add a few strawberry slices if you’re feeling fancy (or just want it to look cute for Instagram), and you’re good to go.

Tips & Tricks

This is one of those recipes that’s super forgiving, but a few little tweaks make it even better.

First, taste before adding ice. Ice will dilute things slightly, so make sure the sweetness and strawberry flavor are where you want them first.

Second, don’t skip dissolving the sugar in the hot water. If you try to add it later, it just won’t fully dissolve and your tea will be… gritty. No thanks.

If you’re using store-bought strawberry syrup instead of homemade, start with less and work your way up. Some brands are way sweeter and stronger than others.

And finally, chill it well. Lukewarm sweet tea is a hard pass.

Storage

Store your strawberry sweet tea in the refrigerator in a covered pitcher for up to 3–4 days. Give it a quick stir before serving, especially if it’s been sitting for a bit.

Final Thoughts

This strawberry sweet tea is one of those simple recipes that feels a little extra special. It’s easy enough for everyday, but pretty enough (and tasty enough) to serve to guests without thinking twice.

Make a pitcher, then maybe a second one. Because it disappears fast.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use less sugar?

Absolutely. Start with less and adjust to taste, especially if your strawberry syrup is already sweet.

Can I use a different tea?

Yes! Black tea is classic, but green tea or even a peach tea blend would be delicious.

Do I have to use homemade strawberry syrup?

Nope. Store-bought works just fine, just adjust the amount since sweetness varies by brand.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, and you should! It tastes even better once it’s fully chilled.

I see the recipe, but no instructions on how to make it!!! Guess you just make the tea and then add the syrup?
