Tropical fruit salad is an absolute favorite of mine. Filled with kiwi, blueberry, mango and more, it always hits the spot!

This tropical fruit salad recipe is inspired by my mother-in-law who served a very similar and also delicious fruit salad while we were visiting this weekend. Try it with our tilapia fish taco recipe and a pineapple margarita for the full Caribbean experience!

  • Mangoes – small diced
  • Bananas – small diced
  • Pineapple – small diced
  • Kiwi – small diced
  • Blueberries – fresh or frozen
TROPICAL FRUIT SALAD INGREDIENTS
Often I’ll use frozen blueberries for the salad. They thaw quickly and are easy to keep on hand!

How do you make a tropical fruit salad?

First, choose your favorite tropical fruits – we love mangoes, bananas, pineapples, kiwi, and blueberries.

Next, small dice everything except the blueberries.

Finally, mix all the fruit together and serve.

Try it on your French Toast Casserole, yum!

HOW TO MAKE TROPICAL FRUIT SALAD
I like the fruit cut up very small, almost like a salsa or pico.

Can you freeze fruit salad?

My mother in law taught me something new!  Did you know you could freeze fruit salad?  Me either?!  But you can, so hurrah!  You’re probably going to wonder why on earth, even if you can freeze fruit salad, you would want to make as much as this recipe calls for.  I’m going to tell you: because it’s awesome.

What to eat with tropical fruit salad?

Not only can you eat it as is from a bowl, but you could serve it with cinnamon pitas as a fruit salsa, you could spoon it over vanilla ice cream, you could put a scoop in your morning oatmeal, you could throw some into the blender with a dollop of yogurt for a smoothie, and you could even add some to your banana bread recipe for a little extra yum!

This is great on it’s own or over ice cream, or in a glass of wine!

Make this a complete meal with our serving suggestions

I love to serve this alongside a healthy entree like ground turkey meatloaf, and oven roasted red potatoes.  Or alongside a sandwich like our ham and cheese croissants.  It would also make a great addition to your next meat and cheese board!

Suggested Tools

  • Santoku knife – My favorite knife for cutting vegetables!  This knife is the perfect size and shape, handles great, and is super reasonably priced.  Also, I just love that it’s fun and colorful!
  • End grain cutting board – This is my absolute favorite cutting board and the one that I get the most compliments on.  And p.s. I have a lot of cutting boards.  It really is absolutely stunning, and knows how to take a beating.  We use it every single day!
