Preparation

Can I make cheesy pull apart bread ahead of time?

This bread is best enjoyed immediately after making it, we don’t recommend making this recipe in advance. You could cook the bacon and crumble it ahead to save on time.

What kind of bread to use for cheesy pull apart bread?

We love making this with a round loaf of a good crusty bread like sourdough. French bread or an Italian loaf will also work well.

What kind of cheese is best for cheesy pull apart bread?

We like to use mozzarella so you get that nice stretchy string of cheese with each pull but you could use almost any kind of cheese that melts well. Colby jack or monterey jack would be great options too!

We used mozzarella but you can try with all your favorite cheeses!

Leftovers and storage

How long does cheesy pull apart bread last?

This one is best enjoyed right from the oven. Leftovers, if there are any, can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Reheat in the air fryer for best results. Alternatively, you can reheat in the oven by  following the same instructions from the recipe (wrap loosely in tin foil and heat in the oven).

Can I freeze cheesy pull apart bread?

We do not recommend freezing this recipe.

What is the best way to reheat leftover cheesy pull apart bread?

The recommended method for reheating leftover cheesy pull apart bread is in the air fryer or the oven. Reheat by following the same instructions from the recipe, wrapping the bread loosely in foil, and heating until the cheese is melty and the outside is crisp.

Tips and tricks

✅ Add some finely diced jalapenos for a little heat!

✅ Play around with the herbs! You can add whatever other seasonings you like. Oregano or Italian seasoning would be great options.

✅ Try a mixture of mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese for a change in the flavors.

✅ Make sure not to slice all the way through the bread or the butter will leak out of the bottom.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the best way to prevent the bread from becoming too soggy when baking?

To prevent the bread from getting too soggy, make sure not to overdo it with the butter and garlic mixture. Use just enough to flavor the bread without making it too wet. Additionally, wrapping the bread loosely in foil rather than tightly can help maintain a crispier texture.

Can I use pre-shredded cheese for this recipe?

While pre-shredded cheese can be used, freshly grated cheese tends to melt more smoothly and is often recommended for better results. However, pre-shredded cheese can still work if that’s what you have on hand.

What else can I add to my cheesy pull apart bread?

Certainly! Get creative and add your favorite ingredients like diced tomatoes, sautéed onions, or different herbs and spices to make this recipe your own. It’s a versatile dish that can be customized to your taste.
