How do you make melted snowman bark? (step-by-step directions)
⭐ First, melt the chocolate until smooth. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place 12 dollops of melted almond bark, spaced to where you want each snowman to be.
⭐ Next, place an Oreo on top of each dollop and spoon more almond bark over each Oreo until covered completely. Place a gumdrop half on either side of each snowman head.
⭐ Then, pipe black icing across the head to make earmuffs, eyes and a mouth. Use the orange icing to create the nose. Let the bark set either on the counter or in the fridge.
⭐ Finally, run a knife under hot water, dry it off and cut around the snowman faces to remove them safely from the parchment paper. Arrange on a tray and serve!

Preparation
Can I make snowman bark ahead of time?
Yes, these can be made a day or two in advance and stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
What type of Oreo should I use?
We used golden Oreos but regular Oreos or mint Oreos are also delicious options.
What kind of chocolate should I use?
We like to use white chocolate, almond bark or white candy melts because they melt smoothly and have a bright white color.
Try giving them fun and unique faces!
Leftovers and storage
How do you store snowman bark?
Store these in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. We don’t recommend storing in the fridge because the chocolate can “sweat” and cause the Oreo to become soggy.
Can you freeze snowman bark?
We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
You can also use M&M’s or Reese’s for the earmuffs!
Tips and tricks
✅ Skip the gumdrop ear muffs and use a mini Reeses cup for a hat!
✅ When covering the Oreo with almond bark, make sure to fill in all the spaces between and around the Oreo.
✅ We use store bought cookie icing for these because it hardens up and sets quickly!
✅ Get creative with the design and give your snowman a scarf or a corncob pipe!
Try them with different kinds of cookies underneath. You can even use homemade.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use other types of cookies besides Oreos for this snowman bark recipe?
While Oreos are the suggested choice, you can get creative and use other cookies that you prefer for the base. Nilla wafers are another delicious choice!
Can I use a different type of candy or fruit instead of gumdrops for the earmuffs?
Yes, you can experiment with other small candies or fruit pieces as alternatives to gumdrops for decorating the snowman’s earmuffs.
What can I do if my melted chocolate is too thick or too thin for coating the Oreos?
If your melted chocolate is too thick, you can add a small amount of vegetable oil or paramount crystals to thin it out. Conversely, if it’s too thin, you can add more chocolate or candy melts to thicken it.
What are some easy variations?
Get imaginative with your snowman bark by adding sprinkles, crushed candies, or edible glitter for extra sparkle and flavor.
How do I prevent the chocolate from seizing when melting it?
To avoid chocolate from seizing, make sure your utensils and containers are completely dry, and avoid getting any water into the chocolate while melting.
If you don’t want to break them into pieces, instead make 12 individual snowman “puddles”!
What to enjoy with white chocolate snowman bark (serving suggestions)
These are so fun and cute for a holiday tray! We like serving them with Grinch brownies, Christmas tree cookies, and peppermint truffles!
You could also use eyeball candies for the eyes!
