Why you’ll love this recipe

📌 Full of delicious flavors and easy to adapt to your personal tastes.

📌 A great way to use up leftovers and clean out the fridge.

📌 Healthy and piled with fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Salmon – Cooked and cut into bite sized pieces.  This is a great way to use leftover baked salmon
  • Rice – Prepared.  We used basmati rice for this recipe, but whatever you love will work. Or grab the leftovers from take-out!
  • Lettuce – Spring mix is my favorite lettuce blend for this bowl.
  • Cucumber – Small English cucumbers are my favorite.
  • Carrot – Julienned or sliced thinly.
  • Onion – Red onion, sliced thinly.
  • Pepper – Bell pepper. I like red because it has the sweetest flavor profile.
  • Dressing – We used honey mustard dressing for this recipe, but it is delicious with any number of dressings!

Preparation

Can you make salmon bowls ahead of time?

Prepping the ingredients ahead of time is a great idea, but we don’t suggest actually assembling the bowls until you’re ready to eat.

Keep the ingredients separate and refrigerated in sealed containers until you’re ready to put them together.

What kind of rice is best?

I used a white basmati rice, but honestly any kind you love will work. It can also be made with quinoa or cauliflower rice!

If using leftover rice, you may want to heat it in the microwave with a little bit of water to soften before adding to your bowl.

Do you eat this hot or cold?

It’s totally a matter of preference, I personally like my rice and salmon warm with the other ingredients cold. You can make them with hot or cold ingredients, or heat up a cold bowl in the oven or microwave.

What other protein can be used?

This bowl is also awesome with seared chicken or grilled flank steak. If you want to keep it vegetarian, try some pan fried tofu!

DRESSING FOR SALMON BOWL
We serve ours with honey mustard, but any variety of dressings would be delicious!

Tips, tricks, and frequently asked questions

✅ Try making these with other proteins like steak, chicken, or even tofu.

✅ Bulk it up with more veggies like edamame, raw zucchini, mushrooms, or sprouts.

✅ Add some spice with fresh or pickled jalapenos

✅ Use a different dressing like our citrus vinaigrette or give it an Asian twist with some yum yum sauce and sriracha!

Tools we love

  • Santoku knife – My favorite knife for cutting vegetables!  This knife is the perfect size and shape, handles great, and is super reasonably priced.
  • Ceramic bowls– there is literally no such thing as too many bowls.  I heart bowls.  So much.
