Breakfast Sliders Ingredients
- Rolls – We like Hawaiian sweet rolls for this recipe, but you can also use traditional or potato dinner rolls. It works best with the pull-apart rolls sold in a rectangular package.
- Cheese – We used colby jack cheese but feel free to try any kind you love.
- Eggs – Large eggs.
- Ham – Sliced deli ham (or other preferred meat).
- Seasonings – Cajun seasoning (can substitute seasoned salt), worcestershire sauce, mustard, everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds.
- Butter – Salted butter, divided.
How do you make ham and cheese breakfast sliders? (step-by-step directions)
⭐ First, whisk eggs with cajun seasoning and scramble in a frying pan with a small amount of butter until just cooked through.
⭐ Next, while eggs are cooking, slice sheet of rolls in half (without separating the buns from one another) and lay the bottom half into your baking pan.
⭐ Then, layer cheese eggs, ham, and more cheese onto rolls. Cover with the top sheet of buns and carefully cut the sliders apart with a serrated knife.
⭐ Finally, whisk together remaining butter with dijon, worcestershire, everything bagel seasoning, and poppy seeds. Brush over the tops of the buns and bake until golden.

Preparation
Can you make breakfast sliders ahead of time?
Absolutely, they can be prepared up to a day in advance. Put them together, then store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake. Add the buttery topping and sesame seeds immediately before baking.
You could also store them in the freezer for up to a few weeks. Allow to thaw completely before baking.
What kind of bread for ham and egg sliders?
We used a Hawaiian style sweet bread (I love the balance of the sweet bread in contrast with the salty eggs and cheese), but any type of dinner roll will work.
Try our quick dinner roll recipe if you’re not into sweet rolls!
Storage and leftovers
How to store breakfast Hawaiian roll sliders
Leftovers should be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for no more than three days. If the sliders have been at room temperature near or in excess of two hours, do not save the leftovers.
Freezing the leftovers is also an option
Can you freeze slider sandwiches?
Yes, you can freeze sliders before baking. Wrap them tightly in saran wrap and freeze.
Allow sliders to thaw completely, then swipe with butter and sprinkle with garlic salt immediately before baking.
How to reheat sliders
The sliders can be reheated quickly in the microwave (30 seconds – 1 minute should be plenty, depending on how many are being reheated).
They can also be reheated in the air fryer (my favorite method), toaster oven, or standard oven. Reheat at 350 degrees F for a few minutes, until warmed through.
Tips, tricks, and frequently asked questions
✅ Use a long serrated knife to easily cut the dinner rolls horizontally.
✅ Don’t separate the rolls until after meat and cheese is added for best results. Use a sharp knife to cut the sliders apart vertically.
✅ Do separate the rolls before baking to allow folks to easily take the sliders from your baking sheet hot out of the oven!
✅ Cook on a parchment lined sheet to keep melted cheese from sticking the sliders to the baking sheet.
✅ Try making this with different breakfast meats and cheeses.
Variations
- Rolls – Try these with potato rolls, classic yeast rolls, or our 30 minute dinner roll recipe.
- Meat – Make them with other breakfast meats like bacon or sausage. This is also a great way to use up leftovers from last night’s dinner!
- Cheese – Use pepper jack for a kick, American cheese for melted perfection, or cheddar cheese for a punch.
- Sauces – Brush with different sauces like our curry mustard sauce, sriracha mayo, or cilantro garlic sauce.
What is a Slider?
A slider is a small hamburger or other hot sandwich made with a soft bun. In our case it’s a small ham and egg sandwich.
This trick to fixing them all at once on a sheet pan makes for a super quick and delicious meal! Sliders are frequently served as snacks, hor dourves, or appetizers. (Try them alongside our Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers!).
What to eat with easy breakfast sliders (serving suggestions)
Serve these yummy sliders at your next brunch with other delicious breakfast favorites like creamed chipped beef on toast, white chocolate banana bread, bacon cinnamon rolls, and air fryer boiled eggs!
