HOW TO MAKE SAUSAGE BALLS
Combine the baking mix with sausage, add the cheese, then form into balls.

Preparation

Can you make sausage balls ahead of time?

Yes, you can make these a day or two in advance and then add to your favorite recipe or heat in the microwave, oven, or air fryer to enjoy. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to use.

What kind of meat is used for sausage balls?

Sausage of course! But more specifically we use ground pork sausage. This can also be made with chicken or turkey sausage if you prefer.

Is it better to bake or fry?

This recipe works best when baked, as the cheese can get messy when frying. Also it’s just so much easier to pop them in the oven and walk away!

Bake until cooked through and browning.

Storage and leftovers

How long will they last?

The leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 days, or longer in the freezer. Make sure to store in an airtight container for best results.

Can you freeze sausage balls?

Yes!  Allow them to cool completely, then store tightly packed in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 6 months and thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

  • Form into golf ball sized balls (about 2 tablespoons each), and place on a lined baking sheet. (Makes about 48 balls)
  • Cook on a lined baking sheet at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes, until sausage is cooked through and the balls are browned on the outside.
