Tachos (Tater Tot Nachos) are like if nachos and loaded potato skins had a crispy little baby. Theyare cheesy, beefy, crunchy, and ridiculously easy to throw together. Basically all my favorite things on one giant pan.

The first time we made these, I thought it would just be a fun snacky dinner situation. Nope. Turns out they are super filling. We piled ours high with tomatoes, avocado, olives, green onions, sour cream (the works) and everyone just attacked the tray with forks like wild animals. Zero regrets.

And the best part? They only take about 10 minutes of prep, which means you can get them into the oven fast and let the tots do most of the heavy lifting.

Why You’ll Love These Tachos
They’re crispy, cheesy, hearty, and wildly customizable. You can keep them super simple with just taco meat and cheese or go full nacho-bar mode with all your favorite toppings. They also make an awesome game day snack, easy weeknight dinner, or fun party food because everyone can pile on exactly what they like.

Ingredients You’ll Need
For the tachos:
- Frozen tater tots
- Ground beef
- Taco seasoning
- Water
- Mexican blend cheese
Optional toppings:
- Sour cream
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced green onionsam
- Diced avocados
- Sliced black olives
- Chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges
Step By Step Directions
Start by spreading the frozen tater tots onto a lined baking sheet. Bake them according to the package directions until they’re hot and crispy. We like to flip them halfway through so they crisp evenly.
While the tots are cooking, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess grease if needed, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Let everything simmer until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.
Once the tater tots are done, spoon the taco meat evenly over the top. Sprinkle on all that glorious shredded cheese and slide the tray back into the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Finally, add whatever toppings make your heart happy and dig in right away.

Tips & Tricks
- For extra crispy tachos, spread the tater tots in a single layer and don’t overcrowd the pan.
- You can swap the ground beef for ground turkey, shredded chicken, or even taco-seasoned black beans if you want a vegetarian option.
- Want spicy tachos? Add sliced jalapeños, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese.
- These are best eaten fresh while the tots are still crispy, so plan on serving them right away.
Storage
These are definitely best fresh from the oven, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the oven or air fryer to help crisp the tots back up a little. The microwave works too, but the tots will soften quite a bit.

We love tomatoes, avocado, green onions, sour cream, olives, jalapenos, and cilantro, but anything you’d normally put on nachos works great here.
