- Cocoa powder
- Brown sugar
- Milk
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Caramel candies, unwrapped
- Water
- Salted peanuts

Step By Step Directions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the butter, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring often.
- Once boiling, stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Remove from heat and pour into the prepared dish, spreading evenly.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramels and water. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth (about 90 seconds).
- Stir the peanuts into the melted caramel. Pour the mixture over the chocolate layer and spread evenly.
- In another microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 15-second intervals until smooth. Pour over the caramel layer and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. If chilled overnight, allow to sit at room temperature briefly before cutting. Lift out using parchment and cut into 1-inch squares.

Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter 1 stick
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 11 oz caramel candies unwrapped
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 cups salted peanuts
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper (leave the edges hanging off the sides so you can lift the fudge out the dish) and set aside.
- In a small pan, combine the butter, cocoa powder, brown sugar and milk and bring to a boil on a medium to low heat. Stirring often.
- After boiling, add the powdered sugar and the vanilla extract in and stir. Remove from heat and pour into the lined 8×8 dish.
- Add the water and unwrapped caramels to a microwave safe bowl. Heat on high in the microwave in 15 second increments, stirring between heat cycles, for about 90 second total – until the caramel is completely melted.
- Stir the peanuts into the caramel. Pour into the dish on top of the chocolate layer and spread. In another microwave safe bowl, microwave the chocolate chips for around 30-50 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds until melted. Pour over top of the caramel layer and spread.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, then lift the fudge out using the edges of the parchment paper, an carefully cut into 1-inch squares.
Notes
- Line the pan with parchment paper and leave overhang so the fudge can be lifted out easily for slicing.
- Stir the cocoa mixture constantly while heating to prevent scorching.
- Microwave caramels in short intervals, stirring often, to avoid overheating.
- Be sure all plastic wrappers are removed from the caramels before melting.
- If chilled overnight, let the fudge sit at room temperature for a few minutes before cutting for cleaner slices.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
