Coca Cola Fudge Ingredients

  • Cola – We used the Coca-Cola brand but you could use an off brand as well.
  • Sugar – Granulated white
  • Sweetened condensed milk – Make sure you’re using full fat sweetened condensed milk and not evaporated milk, fat free, or low fat sweetened condensed milk, they are not swappable.
  • Chocolate chips – Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Butter – Softened to room temperature.
  • Vanilla – Try using real vanilla over imitation, the flavor will be so much better!
  • Nuts – We used chopped walnuts but you could do chopped pecans, peanuts or whatever is your favorite!
COCA COLA FUDGE INGREDIENTS
Coca cola, semi sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, granulated sugar, walnuts, vanilla.

How do you make fudge with soda? (step-by-step directions)

First, combine the Coca-Cola and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce until thickened and syrupy. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Next, mix together chocolate chips, butter, vanilla and some of the walnuts. Pour the hot sweetened condensed milk mixture over the chocolate chip mixture and stir until melted.

Then, press a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper into a square dish. Spoon the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it out with a spoon.

Finally, scatter the remaining nuts on the top and place in the refrigerator until the fudge is set. Lift out of the pan, cut and enjoy!

Preparation

Do I need a candy thermometer to make Coca-Cola fudge?

No, this fudge recipe does not require a candy thermometer or any special candy making skills.

Can I use Diet Coke for this recipe?

We don’t recommend using diet cola as it will give the recipe a bitter flavor.  You can swap the coke for cherry coke though!

Can you make this fudge ahead of time?

Yes, this can be made a few days in advance. Store at room temperature in a sealed container.

What kind of nuts do I use for Coca-Cola fudge?

We used chopped walnuts but you could use chopped pecans or peanuts or if you aren’t a nut fan, omit the nuts altogether.

COKE FUDGE
Gently press the extra walnuts into the top of the fudge before it fully sets.

Storage and leftovers

Can you freeze fudge?

Fudge can be frozen for two to three months. Best practice is to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, then place in a freezer bag, while it is still in a block (before it is cut). Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before slicing.

How do you store fudge?

After the fudge has set, it can be stored at room temperature in a sealed container. It can also be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.

How long does fudge last?

Your fudge will last 3 – 5 days at room temperature, up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, or up to three months in the freezer. Or if you bring it to my house, it will be gone in a few hours.

COLA FUDGE
You could also use sprinkles, dried fruit, or extra chocolate as mix-ins and toppings.

Frequently asked questions

While the recipe is designed to incorporate the unique flavor of Coca-Cola, you can experiment with other cola brands if desired. However, the taste and texture of the fudge may vary.

What size should the dish be for pressing the plastic wrap or parchment paper?

The dish should be 8 x 8 inches to ensure the fudge sets properly.

Can I substitute anything for sweetened condensed milk?

Sweetened condensed milk is a key ingredient in this recipe and contributes to the fudge’s texture and sweetness. It is not recommended to substitute it with other ingredients.

Can I use milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips?

Yes, you can use milk chocolate chips if you prefer a sweeter taste. However, keep in mind that it may alter the overall flavor profile of the fudge.

Is it necessary to refrigerate the fudge for the full 2 hours or can I shorten the time?

It is recommended to refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours to ensure it sets properly. Shortening the refrigeration time may result in a softer consistency.
