I totally cheated and bought pre-cubed pineapple from the market, so they came together in no time at all and I was able to enjoy time (and food!) with our friends! Serve them with other great appetizers like mango pineapple salsa, stuffed mushrooms, and spinach dip!

Bacon Wrapped Pineapple Ingredients

  • Pineapple, cubed – I like to cheat and buy the pre-cut pineapple from my grocery store’s produce section.
  • Thick cut bacon, halved – Try a smoked bacon for extra flavor!
  • Barbecue sauce – I typically just purchase whatever is on sale, but you can definitely influence the flavor of the dish by trying out different types of bbq sauces!

How Do You Make Bacon Wrapped Pineapple

First, wrap each pineapple cube in a piece of bacon and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Then, baste the top of each cube with barbecue sauce.

Finally, bake for 45 – 55 minutes, until bacon is crispy.

Can we talk about how much I love preparing bacon in the oven?  It makes no mess and renders so beautifully.  I’m personally a fan of thick cut bacon, but you could use whatever you prefer.

Thick cut takes a little longer to cook, but I’m thinking it’s worth the wait.  You could do these on a stovetop, but I can’t imagine why you’d want to.

This recipe is so easy you can totally recruit your kids to help make it.  Cut the bacon with a pair of kitchen shears and pick up a container of pre-diced pineapple.  Put them to work while you enjoy a cocktail!

Pineapple adds the perfect amount of sweet to offset the deep saltiness of bacon.  And then a little peppery barbecue sauce at the finish makes it really (really) hard to stop eating when you’ve had a reasonable amount.

Is there such thing as a reasonable amount of bacon wrapped food?  Probably not.

  1. How long do these hold up? Does the pineapple break down the bacon and give it a weird texture? They look fantastic, FYI

    1. Hi Jarrod – We serve them right away, so I'm not sure how long they would hold up. And no, I don't find that the pineapple gives the bacon a weird texture. Just tastes like bacon 😉 Thanks for commenting!

  2. I have done this and they hold up good. I put a toothpick tru to hold them on and I have eaten them the 2nd & 3rd day cold still good

These look great but what would you suggest serving these with? I keep thinking some kind of bread would be awesome…

  4. I'm going to a Birthday Party/Halloween Party. And I've been racking my brain on what to bring. then when I seen these "bacon wrapped pineapple bites" and knew what I was bringing to the party. they look yummy.

  5. Made these and im in love with these. My son loved them too so much so he asked if i can make these to go with our christmas dinner and as i was making them my vest friend could not stop picking at them either i had to hide them.

  6. What bbq sauce did you use? Or suggest using?

    1. We’re big fans of Sweet Baby Ray’s, but honestly whatever’s on sale at the market is fine 🙂

    1. I’ve never tried canned, I would worry that it wouldn’t be firm enough.

  7. Could you place the bacon on the parchment paper, then put some of the BBQ Sauce on each slice before adding & wrapping the pineapple pieces? After wrapping each pineapple, put a toothpick in each one & dip the entire piece into the BBQ Sauce?
You can tell that I like BBQ Sauce!
    Thank you!

    1. sure sounds yummy. just watch closely, bbq sauce has a lot of sugar so it will burn faster if there’s too much 🙂

Easy & delish! We tried both thicker & thinner slices of pineapple. We preferred thinner pineapple chunks to the meatier ones. Easy to assemble & they were gone in minutes!
