How do you make an apple cider cake?

Cake directions

First, in a large bowl combine apple cider mix with vanilla cake mix (and cinnamon, if desired).

Next, add egg, milk, and butter.  Beat with an electric mixer for about two minutes.

Then, pour batter into a greased cake pan (we love this homemade cake release).

⭐ Finally, bake until a toothpick comes out clean.  Allow to cool completely before icing.

Icing Directions

First, melt caramel candies in the microwave.

Next, in a bowl, combine vanilla icing and melted caramel.

Then, mix thoroughly and refrigerate until it cools and sets to the consistency of frosting.

Finally, remove icing from refrigerator and stir in salt.

Ingredients
 

Cake:

  • one box vanilla cake mix
  • ingredients to prepare boxed cake mix
  • 5 packets spiced apple cider drink mix
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon optional

Icing:

  • 1 ½ cups caramel candy cubes
  • 1 container vanilla icing
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon salt taste as you go

Instructions

Cake:

  • In a large bowl, combine vanilla cake mix, apple cider mix, and cinnamon if using.
  • Add eggs, milk, butter, and cinnamon. Beat with an electric mixer for 1 - 2 minutes, until fully incorporated.
  • Pour batter into a greased cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 25 - 30 minutes. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Icing:

  • Melt caramel candies in the microwave (cook in 20 second increments and stir between, until melted through), it should yield approximately 1 cup when melted.
  • In a bowl, combine vanilla icing and melted caramel. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Remove icing from refrigerator and stir in salt.
  • Frost cake and enjoy!

  1. Instead of melted caramel cubes, what do you think about using an organic caramel dipsyrup instead? Would the frosting be too runny?

    WHY did I read this at 10:45pm when I cant make it right now? Torture! grrrrr

  5. I find NO mention of cinnamon until the recipe directions say to add in the cinnamon to cake ingredients. Any help??

    1. Sorry! This recipe was transferred from our previous site and it looks like something was missed. It should say 1 – 2 teaspoons of cinnamon is optional. Fixing it now!
