- Jello – Strawberry jello is what we’re using for this one. But, yes, it can be made with any flavor!
- Whipped topping – Like Cool Whip.
- Graham cracker crust – You can use a homemade graham cracker crust or store bought.
- Water – Boiling water and ice water for preparing the pie filling.
- Optional garnishes – Fresh cut or diced strawberries and more whipped topping.
How do you make a jello cool whip pie? (step by step directions)
⭐ First, in a large bowl, whisk jello into boiling water until granules are completely dissolved.
⭐ Next, whisk in ice water, followed by the whipped topping.
⭐ Then, chill the strawberry jello mixture until it has started to thicken slightly.
⭐ Finally, pour thickened mixture into your graham cracker crust and refrigerate until fully set. Garnish as desired.

If you use a traditional crust, make sure to bake it completely and allow it to cool before filling.
Can I make this with a regular pie crust?
Absolutely! Make sure to bake the crust completely before adding pie filling since the filling does not get baked. This homemade pie crust recipe would work perfectly.
Can you make a no bake strawberry cream pie ahead of time?
You can prepare this up to a day or two in advance and store it in the refrigerator. The pie can be piped with whipped cream before you refrigerate or immediately before serving. I find it’s easier to store without the topping.

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 days. For best results, store in an air tight container.

We do not suggest freezing pies made with gelatin.

Ingredients
- 1 package strawberry jello (3 ounces)
- ⅔ cup boiling water
- ½ cup ice water
- 8 ounces whipped topping (like cool whip) thawed
- 1 graham cracker crust prepared
- optional garnishes whipped cream/topping, sliced strawberries
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the boiling water and jello until completely dissolved.
- Whisk in the ice water to cool down the jello mixture.
- Stir in the whipped topping until smooth & creamy.
- Chill the creamy jello mixture for 20 to 30 minutes, until it has started to thicken just slightly.
- Pour the the thickened filling into prepared graham cracker crust and refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours.
- Garnish as desired.
