Preparation

Can millionaire pie be made ahead of time?

Yes! You actually need to make this recipe ahead of time which makes it a great holiday dessert or perfect for a summer BBQ. This pie needs to refrigerate for at least 3 hours but overnight is best so it sets well and can be cut into nice clean cut pieces.

What kind of pineapple to use for millionaire pie?

Make sure to use crushed pineapple, not pineapple tidbits or pineapple chunks. Crushed pineapple will give you the best texture for this recipe.

Do I use store bought or homemade graham cracker crust?

Either will work for this recipe. You can use our homemade graham cracker crust recipe. Otherwise a store bought crust will do just fine.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use fresh pineapple instead of canned crushed pineapple?

Fresh pineapple can be used, but it needs to be finely chopped or blended and well-drained to avoid excess moisture which could affect the pie’s texture.

What can I use as a substitute for pecans if I have a nut allergy?

You can omit the pecans or substitute them with other ingredients like sunflower seeds or toasted coconut flakes for crunch.

How do you make individual servings of Millionaire Pie?

Prepare the filling and spoon it into mini graham cracker crusts or use a muffin tin lined with cupcake liners for individual servings.

Can I make this pie with a different type of crust?

Yes, you can use a cookie crust like a Golden Oreo crust or a shortbread crust for a different flavor.

How can I get clean slices when serving the pie?

For clean slices, make sure the pie is well-chilled. Use a sharp knife dipped in hot water and wiped dry before cutting each slice.
