Pumpkin Spice Frosting Ingredients
- Butter – Room temperature
- Cream cheese – Room temperature
- Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla, not imitation
- Powdered sugar – Also called icing sugar or confectioners sugar
- Pumpkin pie spice – You can make your own pumpkin pie spice or grab a bottle from the spice aisle
Start with room temp cream cheese and butter.
How do you make pumpkin spice frosting with cream cheese?
⭐ First, using an electric mixer or stand mixer, whip together butter and cream cheese.
⭐ Next, add pumpkin pie spice and powdered sugar, in small increments.
⭐ Then, continue to beat until smooth and fully incorporated.
⭐ Finally, allow to set in the refrigerator and ENJOY!

Is there pumpkin in pumpkin spice frosting?
There is no pumpkin in the frosting, rather we are using the spices associated with pumpkin pie to give it the pumpkin spiced flavor.

Do you need to refrigerate pumpkin spice icing?
The icing should be refrigerated first to set and then if you have any leftovers they should also be refrigerated. Baked goods iced with this frosting should be refrigerated if they will be out more than a few hours as this is a cream cheese based icing.
How long does pumpkin spice cream cheese frosting last?
It keeps in the fridge for as long as your cream cheese and butter are good (so make sure to check the use-by dates and make a note of them on your jars).
Add confectioner’s sugar until you reach desired consistency.
