Biscuit Mix Pizza Dough Ingredients

Have I mentioned this pizza crust only requires two ingredients?  Unless you count water as an ingredient, then three.  But I don’t think water is an ingredient.  Is it?  Feel free to voice your opinion in the comments.

  • Biscuit Mix – I use Bisquick, but use your favorite mix.
  • Water – Again, the jury is out. Is this an actual ingredient? Well, it’s going in the ingredient list.
  • Flour – This flour adds some texture to the dough so it’s not quite as “biscuity.” You can use regular white or whole wheat flour.

Okay, so not is it only two ingredients (maybe three, jury’s still out), but it’s ingredients I literally always have in my pantry.  And you probably do, too. Real life, yo. You’re craving pizza now, aren’t you?  I know I am.  And we had this last night.  Don’t even care, I’ll totally eat it again.

How Do You Make Bisquick Pizza Dough

How to make pizza dough with Bisquick? No problem, y’all! This easy Bisquick pizza dough without yeast is quick, simple, and remarkably yummy. I won’t pretend that it makes a chewy New York style crust (that would be silly, it’s made with biscuit dough after all),  but it does make a deliciously satisfying biscuity crust. Which sometimes I actually prefer.  Mmmmmm.

Step-by-step

First, mix your biscuit mix, flour and water.

Next, knead and let sit in covered bowl. Roll dough and place on baking sheet. You may want to use some parchment paper or a silicone pad to prevent sticking.

Then, brush dough lightly with olive oil and add toppings.

Finally, bake until cooked through and crust is browned to your liking.

Mix all your ingredients together and then let them sit for a little while.

What Kind Of Biscuit Mix To Make Pizza Crust

The kinds of biscuit mix that most people are familiar with are Bisquick, Betty Crocker, and Jiffy, but I’ll bet there are regional mixes out there that you love. The mixes are very similar, combining flour with baking powder, salt, and sugar. You could also totally make up your own biscuit mix that you keep in a container for a quick hit.

Want to make an interesting variation? Try Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix for a cheesy crust.

Roll the pizza out to your desired shape.

Can I make a deep dish Bisquick pizza crust?

You can make a deep dish biscuit mix pizza crust, but you’ll want to add some extra ingredients to give the pie some structure. Play with adding about 1/4 cup cornmeal and 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese per cup biscuit mix. After mixing these, cut in some butter (3T per cup of mix) and some hot water to form a dough.

Spray your casserole dish (basically, you’re making a pizza casserole) and then press your crust into bottom and up sides.

Top with your favorite sauce.

Can I make a gluten free Bisquick pizza crust?

You can make a gluten-free Bisquick pizza crust, as the company makes a gluten free mix. You shouldn’t have to make any alterations to the recipe, but do experiment for best results for you.

And then pile on the cheese.

Can I make Bisquick pizza crust ahead of time?

You can technically make the pizza crust ahead of time but it really isn’t necessary, as the dough comes together and cooks so quickly. That’s the beauty of making a pizza dough without yeast!

If you choose to make ahead of time I would go ahead and top it with your standard toppings then freeze it on a piece of parchment on top of a baking tray. Once completely frozen you can store in a plastic bag in the freezer to pop out and place in oven frozen. Preheat oven to 400F, place the frozen pizza directly on the center oven rack, and cook for 20-25 minutes.

This might be an easy way to prepare small, personal sized pizzas for an after school treat. If you try it, please leave me a comment and let me know how it went!

Sometimes I like to sprinkle some fresh basil and oregano on top before baking.

What can I top my Bisquick pizza with?

We made a traditional cheese pizza for this post, there’s no one stopping you from going all hipster trendy fusion to the nth degree.  Or just, like, a meatlovers? My husband would turn over the keys to the kingdom for a surprise Tuesday meat lovers pizza when he came home from work. Note to self.  Make husband a surprise pizza.

My kids are still at that boring GIVE ME ALL THE CHEEEEZ stage in their pizza loving lives, but for me, I like to get a little crazy with Barbecue Chicken Pizza or Three Ingredient White Pizza.

Or, ZOMG you guys, I literally had this epiphany right now while writing this actual sentence.  How about Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Pizza.  On a BISCUIT CRUST. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?  I feel like we just leveled up.  Yes. Yassssssss.

On the grown-up Bisquick pizza we added some fresh basil  You know, that basil in my windowsill that I murder about every 3 months? Yeh, that basil.  Hah!  Please tell me I’m not the only basil killer.  I also excel at withering mint and turning rosemary to dust.  It’s a special talent.

My kids prefer basil-free pizza though.

Complete the meal with our serving suggestions

I like to counterbalance the heavy bread and cheese of pizza with something light and refreshing like a broccoli salad recipe or quick cucumber tomato salad. And then rebalance it of course, with a delicious dessert like classic lemon bars, or caramel stuffed brownies.

And if you discover you don’t have any sauce on hand, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with our blender spaghetti sauce recipe, or (if you have a few hours) slow cooker spaghetti sauce recipe.

I like to let the pizza cool a bit before slicing so all the cheese doesn’t runneth away.

  • Bakers half sheet – It’s cool, we only have about six of these bakers half sheets because they’re good for absolutely everything.  Cookies? Yes! Steak? Yes! Cake? Oh yeh! Roasted veggies? Uhhhh huh!
  • Oil mister – This is the perfect gift for folks who want to make sure they know exactly what they’re spraying on their pans.  We like to put olive oil in ours, but you could use anything from vegetable oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or whatever you like!  Just pump the top a few times and it sprays a fine mist of the oil you chose.

It’s lunch time here, and you’re really making my mouth water!
I often make my own pizzas but I must admit making the crust can be a pain (even with my bread maker).
This looks like the ultimate lazy-person’s pizza dough (and yup, that’s me 99% of the time).

This was a great quick pizza craving fix! I planned to make real pizza dough earlier in the day but never got to it this was a perfect fix. My mom used to make it for us when we were kids and begging for pizza but I don’t think she put in the flour and let it sit which really helped it relax roll out more like like pizza dough. I baked it for about 8 minutes and then took it out and rolled it with a dough docker (a fork would work too) so it would absorb the sauce a little more. It was delish! I like the breakfast pizza ideas too. Thanks for posting.

This looks good, I will try it I always have Bisquick on hand. I took a lazy shortcut not long ago. I bought the Naan bread it comes in 3 sizes and makes a great crust. They also have it in Garlic flavor. It was great.

The added flour gives the crust a taste and texture more similar to a raised crust than the original Bisquick pizza crust that was made from the basic biscuit recipe. A quick easy option, especially for white pizza, with spinach or basil leaves, slices of fresh tomatoes, garlic powder and light sprinkle of oregano. I also added oregano and basil to the crust. Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese were a perfect compliment.

  10. Can I mix this in my bread machine?

This sounds really good. Honestly, I love pizza, but I don’t eat it that much. Can I use this recipe for the dough for hand held pot pies. I’m thinking roll the dough out, fill it with the ingredients, close it and bake it.

  12. Janet Martin says:

I just added 1/2 cup of water to the biscuick and flour and it is very crumbly I dont know what you respons timming is like but I think it needs more water?

    1. i’ve never had a problem, but if yours is too dry you can add a little more water. there are a lot of variables like humidity and temperature that can affect moisture content 🙂

Just made this afternoon, my daughter had been asking for pizza for the past few nights, we try to not eat out so much but I knew I had pretty much everything, made my own pizza sauce. We loved it. Per instructions 475 for 15minutes was way to long, it would have burnt, so took out at 12 minutes and cheese was was starting to become a dark brown. So When I make again I’ll check at 8 minutes. It was fantastic and will definitely use. Thanks

  15. Angelica Sophia Jimenez says:

Accidentally bought the heart smart Bisquick will still work if not can I add something to it?

    1. I’ve never tried it with the Heart Smart version, but please let us know how it turns out if you try it!

I meal prepped for the week. Made 5 small pizzas out of this dough. Froze each one to pop in the oven at lunch. Turned out great!

  17. I have made pizza using bisquick in the past, but these were much better with the flour.
I make them in a muffin pan.
